Yasushi Kanno
Field: Metalwork - Carving
- Comment
- I studied metal carving, a work very delicately expressed with chisel.
I’ve learnt a lot of expression techniques of the predecessors, but at the same time I have seen a lot of craft design, contemporary jewellery and many other artworks of current times with different values. This had stimulated my mind.
My current works reflect those artistic aspects of crafting. I foresee the spatial presentation of my work and consider the importance of this reflecting on our lifestyle.
I use titles like “Breeze” or “Calm” because I want to grasp the quietness and gentleness of those moments in my work and hope that my works acts as those scenes in your living space.
I also prefer to use brass for my work. Brass is used in many instruments and creates a beautiful resonance between the firmness of the material and the flow of the air. It also ages and gives a unique difference over time, and that is part of my expectation.
I hope people enjoy my work as part of their life.
